| The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, from May through September 2006, hosted River of No Return, a major exhibition of forty large-scale color photographs by Laura McPhee. Her artworks juxtapose idealized images of the remote Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, against the reality of life in the twenty-first century American West. For McPhee, this wilderness is a microcosm of America and the dilemmas that communities and people nationwide face when dealing with issues of the land and its uses. |
