Floating Peel, a lyrical evocation of a 14-foot-tall banana peel by renowned sculptor Claes Oldenburg and collaborator, Coosje van Bruggen, was installed in the inner courtyard of the Cantor Center at Stanford University from 2004 to 2008. Oldenburg and van Bruggen, noted for their outdoor sculptures relating to everyday life, employ the humor of Pop Art in this playful, large-scale artwork.  During its installation,  Floating Peel was a focus of attention for University and Palo Alto students and visitors.
